Franchesco Fickey Martinez

Immigration Attorney Profile

Franchesco Donovan Fickey Martinez is a dedicated Immigration Attorney based in North Carolina, embodying the values and culture of his home state. Raised in Onslow County, Franchesco has resided in various towns throughout North Carolina, including Hubert, Stella, Jacksonville, Wilmington, Clayton, Greenville, and Charlotte. As a true North Carolinian, his deep-rooted connection to the region informs his work and commitment to serving the community.

Personal Journey in Immigration

Franchesco’s personal experience with immigration began over a decade ago when his wife, an exchange teacher from Cebu, Philippines, arrived in North Carolina on a J-1 visa to teach in the Onslow County Public Schools. This journey allowed Franchesco to witness the immigration process first-hand—from researching attorneys and formulating initial inquiries to navigating the complexities of the J-1 Waiver and Green Card processes. The intricate nature of immigration law, which he encountered during this time, continues to present challenges today.

Armed with this personal insight, Franchesco and his team recognize the anxiety and uncertainties faced by their clients. Having personally experienced the stress associated with the myriad of immigration forms and interviews alongside his wife, he understands the nuances that can make the process so overwhelming.

Professional Milestones

In 2015, Franchesco established Fickey Martinez Law Firm, P.L.L.C., proudly serving the immigration needs of individuals and families throughout Eastern North Carolina. His commitment to client satisfaction and comprehensive legal support sets his firm apart.

Beyond his law practice, Franchesco is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys long walks in nature, indulges in hobby beekeeping, and tends to his orchards in Eastern North Carolina.

Franchesco’s academic achievements reflect his dedication to excellence. He graduated Cum Laude from Campbell University between 2008 and 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Government and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning, he subsequently obtained a certificate in Conflict Management and Resolution while attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 2012 to 2013.

In 2013, Franchesco pursued a Juris Doctorate at The University of Dayton School of Law, where he contributed as a staff writer for the law review journal and focused his seminar work on Mediation. He proudly received his Juris Doctorate in 2015.

Looking ahead, Franchesco plans to return to law school in 2024 to pursue a Post-Graduate Tax Certificate in Estate Planning, emphasizing the critical intersections between taxation and life planning.

Immigration Law Expertise

In 2015, in the pursuit of improving his Immigration Knowledge, Franchesco became a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Since 2015, Franchesco has been a proud member and lifelong learner.

Fickey Martinez Law Firm has successfully managed various immigration cases, with a focus on Green Card Adjustment of Status. The firm is proud to serve clients not only across Eastern North Carolina but also in distant states such as New York and California. Franchesco’s commitment to supporting clients throughout the immigration process extends beyond geographical boundaries.

Given Jacksonville’s status as a military town, Franchesco understands the unique challenges active-duty military personnel face during deployments and changes of station. The anticipated five-month process can easily extend over two years due to Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Therefore, the firm prioritizes vigilance and proactive communication to address potential complications, ensuring clients are informed and supported throughout their journey.

Having gained valuable insights from serving military families at Camp Lejeune, Franchesco has strategically expanded his office to better assist service members stationed at:

  • Cherry Point Air Station in Havelock, NC,
  • Fort Liberty in Fayetteville, NC,
  • Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC, and
  • Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.

Since its inception, the firm has continually sought innovative ways to enhance client service, including the establishment of additional offices in Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, Greenville, NC, and Garden Grove, CA. This expansion offers clients greater accessibility to in-person consultations, reducing travel times and improving the overall client experience.
